Neighbourhood residents gathered Thursday for the moving of the house at 1044 Hampshire Road.
One onlooker said he did not mind the move of the house from Oak Bay, “as long as it fits into the new neighbourhood it’s going to.” He added, “It will be interesting to see what they put in its place because this one fits nicely. Nowadays, people put modern houses in and they don’t fit in.”
Another from Windsor Road is glad to see the house preserved. “It’s nice to see them saving these old houses instead of just taking them down.”
Nickel Brothers’ Jim Connelly said the house will be held in Sidney until it is relocated. A driver and crew towed the house down McNeill Avenue to be carried by barge to Sidney. “It’s a good house, a character house that’s been upgraded,” Connelly said.
