With local elections quickly approaching, Jessica Bagnall has been appointed Chief Election Officer for 2018 with Gerald Pinchbeck as her deputy.

With all council positions up for grabs on election day, Oct. 20, council has appointed the two District of Houston staff members to oversee procedures and make sure the election follows the letter of the law. Bagnall works as corporate officer for Houston, while Pinchbeck is chief administrative officer.

It was part of a series of appointments made by District of Houston council at its meeting on April 3.

Paul Gordon, who was recently hired as manager of engineering and operations, received an appointment as an officer of the municipality — a routine measure for a new hire in that role. Gordon was also named approving officer, making him responsible for approving subdivisions. In this role, he’s taking over for Pinchbeck, who recommended the change.
