Parksville rises slightly above the Canadian average with a CSI of 73 but dips far below the nation’s violent crime severity index average (75.25) at 37.
Annual crime data for Parksville shows break and enters to be the most prominent offences in the city with 70 incidents. The city also saw two robberies and 34 cases of fraud.
There was 33 assaults and six sexual assault incidents, both below the Canadian average.
Parksville saw 25 impaired driving incidents and one cannabis and one cocaine trafficking or production incident.
There were three recorded youth criminal justice act offences.
Courtenay placed number seven for most dangerous places, Port Alberni was number 50, Campbell River number 88 and Nanaimo number 118.
