How to file an urban deer complaint in Princeton

A list of who to contact in Princeton if you see someone feeding deer or come in contact with an aggressive deer.

Update: Princeton town hall does not accept anonymous complaints.

How to report people feeding deer

Feeding deer can cause them to stay around town, and there is a bylaw against doing so.

If you see someone feeding deer in town, this is what to do:

Visit town hall to file a written complaint or email the complaint to admin@princeton.ca. Alternatively, you can mail a letter to town hall.

Record the precise time and location of the person feeding the deer.

Try to take a photo of the person feeding the deer. Without proof, a bylaw officer cannot give the person a fine.

If you don’t have a photo, the bylaw officer can still come by to warn the offender, but cannot give him or her a fine without proof.

How to report aggressive deer

Complaints about aggressive deer must also be reported in writing to town hall.

Record the exact location and time you saw the deer, what it was doing and any distinguishing features.

In addition to contacting town hall, you can call the B.C. Conservation Officer Service 24-hour hotline at 1-877-952-7277 to report the aggressive deer. They will let the local conservation officer know.
