Although Hugh Davis is no longer with us, the street that he lived on for 93 years will forever bear his name.
The Township of Langley is dedicating a portion of 76B Avenue, east of 216 Street, as Hugh Davis Way.
Hugh, a Langley pioneer and dairy farmer on the Davistead Farm in Milner, died peacefully surrounded by family on Oct. 2, 2017. He was 93.
He was born in 1924 in the same room in the same house as his father, Henry, on property that was originally purchased by his grandfather at a Hudson’s Bay Company auction in 1882.
A memorial event for the street dedication has been scheduled for Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. at Milner Chapel, 6716 216 St.
More details on the event and signage will be released by the Township soon.
