A washout on Hwy 16 has traffic limited to one lane, according to DriveBC this morning.

Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) crews responded to the incident 66 kilometers west of Terrace, reported at approximately 2:30 p.m. yesterday.

“Recent heavy rains resulted in some erosion under the pavement in the westbound lane on Highway 16, about 70 kilometres west of Terrace,” says MOTI in an email to the Terrace Standard.

“The erosion was identified early by the maintenance contractor, and they are working to repair the site today. The road is currently open to single lane alternating traffic while repairs are underway.”

The email states that Hwy 16 is expected to open to two-way traffic this afternoon and that drivers should check DriveBC for updates.
