Officers from the Central Saanich Police Department pulled a vehicle over for going 108km/hr in a 50km/hr zone the evening of Feb. 7.

The driver’s licence was seized for 90 days, their vehicle impounded for 30 days and a $368 excessive speed ticket issued.

The male driver was found to be operating under the influence of alcohol.

Central Saanich police said that the traffic stop was conducted pro-actively, meaning that officers initiated the stop without being called by the public. Such pro-active patrols, actively looking for speeding or impaired drivers, are a focus of police officers.

“Taking impaired drivers off the roads is a priority for the Central Saanich Police Department,” said Const. Michelle Joyce.
