Every week, the Kitimat RCMP publishes a list of several of the calls they responded to that week. Here’s the report from Oct. 17 to 21.
Missing curfew
On Saturday Oct. 17 at 10:50 p.m., the Kitimat RCMP conducted a curfew check at a residence. The subject on the curfew was not home. Kitimat RCMP will be forwarding charges of failing to comply with a release order to Crown Counsel.
Impaired driver
On Sunday Oct. 18 around 4:45 p.m., an officer pulled a vehicle over on Kingfisher Ave. after seeing the vehicle speeding on Haisla Blvd. The driver appeared impaired and failed on a roadside impairment screening test. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Impaired driver x2
On Tuesday Oct. 20 at 8:15 a.m., the Kitimat RCMP responded to a complaint of an impaired driver. The vehicle was located on Tsimshian Blvd. They followed the driver and observed him driving on the fog line up Haisla Blvd., so they conducted a vehicle stop. The driver was found to be unlicensed and appeared impaired, and he failed the roadside impairment screening test. He received a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Bear spray assault
On Wednesday Oct. 21 at 12:15 p.m., the Kitimat RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault at a residence in the Kildala neighbourhood. A man reported that he had been sprayed with bear spray by another man he knew. The Kitimat RCMP located the second man nearby and he was arrested for assault with a weapon. Charges are pending.
