Surrey and White Rock saw a spike in mail-in ballots this provincial election due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but overall registered voters and voter turnout has been increasing each year.
This election, 68,396 vote-by-mail packages issued by Elections BC to the nine ridings.
However, the 2020 mail-in ballot figure is the number of vote-by-mail packages issued, while in the previous elections, it is the number of packages counted.
Meantime, in the 2017 provincial election, voter turnout was about 59 per cent of registered voters, an increase from the 55 per cent in 2013 and the 54 per cent in 2009.
