An inmate serving a sentence for second-degree murder at Matsqui Institution has died of natural causes, according to a Correction Service Canada news release.
James Tyrone Godfrey passed away at the age of 59 in the intensive care unit at a local hospital on Oct. 16.
Godfrey had been serving an indeterminate sentence for second-degree murder since April 21, 1980.
The inmate’s next of kin has been informed of his death.
