Intense winds could reach 70km in Greater Victoria

Environment Canada issued wind warning for Dec. 17

Winds are expected to hit Greater Victoria Monday afternoon and early evening.

On Dec. 17, southeast winds could reach 70 kilometres an hour. Environment Canada’s wind warning warns that loose objects moved by the wind could cause injury or damage, and tree branched may break.

The “intense front” will begin on the coast of Vancouver Island in the afternoon, with Southeast winds adding gusto into the late afternoon or evening. The wind is predicted to calm as the front moves inland overnight.
