Interior Savings launches new bursary program

The Million Dollar Bursary Program is a new component of the credit union’s Member Rewards Program

Interior Savings have launched a new bursary program that will help thousands of local high school students attend college or university.

The Million Dollar Bursary Program is a new component of the credit union’s Member Rewards Program, and will provide up to 1,000 post-secondary bursaries, each valued at $1,000, to high school students graduating in the Interior Region of British Columbia. Interior Savings has made a commitment to providing this bursary for three years (2014, 2015, and 2016), representing a total funding pledge of up to $3 million.

Commenting on the announcement, Interior Savings President and CEO, Kathy Conway, said, “As a financial cooperative, the economic and social development of our communities is very important to us. The young people in our community will eventually become responsible for shaping that development. Our hope is that this new bursary program will help our young members to overcome some of the financial barriers that exist to achieving a post-secondary education, and allow them to focus on their studies and reaching their true potential.”
