Intersection cleared after two-car accident in downtown Parksville

Incident was at intersection of Highway 19A and Highway 4A

An accident at the intersection of Highway 4A and Highway 19A slowed traffic in downtown Parksville Thursday afternoon (Dec. 7).

The accident involved a blue Mitsubishi hatchback and white Ford truck. The driver, a male, of the Mitsubishi was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, but he was up and moving around after the accident, according to Parksville assistant fire chief Tyrone Heigh.

The truck was heading northbound on Highway 19A and turning left onto Highway 4A when the Mitsubishi heading southbound on Highway 19A hit the passenger door of the truck.

A man was driving the truck with a female passenger.

The Parksville Volunteer Fire Department and B.C. Ambulance Service were on scene.

Single-lane traffic is sneaking past the accident both northbound and southbound. The accident happened just before 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, and was cleared by 1:30 p.m.

Traffic is now moving as usual.
