Island Savings has announced that it will be moving its Chemainus branch into the new Chemainus Village Square.

The financial institution announced its three-year, $15-million capital expansion plan at the beginning of 2012, and that plan includes the move of Island Savings’ current Chemainus location to the 3,500-square-foot space at the corner of Oak Street and Chemainus Road.

Island Savings has been serving Chemainus residents since 2004 in what was originally meant to be a temporary location.

“Our members and staff have been waiting patiently for this change, and we are excited to be closer to making it a reality,” Randy Bertsch, chief operating officer for Island Savings, said in a press release. “We see our relocation as a significant long-term investment to the community.”

Chemainus residents can expect an indoor, secure ATM; convenient parking; a member lounge with free coffee and Wi-Fi access; private, sit-down offices to conduct personal banking; and increased technology, including wall monitors to see the same information as advisors and conference with other Island Savings specialists, according to the release.

Island Savings will be opening its doors at the Chemainus Village Square in the first months of 2014, offering full banking, insurance and financial planning and advice services six days a week.
