Damjan Madjar has invented a product he hopes will make drinking liquids a little bit easier.
His creation, Drink E-Z, is a cup that houses a micro-pump, which is powered by three AA batteries.
When you push the button on the bottom of the cup, the pump forces the liquid up through the straw, allowing you to drink without sucking.
“My friend and I, over a couple drinks, thought of the idea,” said Madjar.
“We kind of laughed it off, but still thought it would be a pretty neat novelty item to have.”
Madjar said he realized the product may serve a more practical purpose after he spoke to a friend who had his jaw wired shut after surgery.
“The only way he was feeding himself protein shakes and meal replacements was through a very large syringe on the side of his mouth.
“He never wanted to be in public when he was eating.”
Madjar envisions dental patients, seniors and even young people who want to relax as being potential Drink E-Z customers.
Working on the prototype stage took about a year, according to Madjar.
During that time he researched what kind of pump to use and worked on the cup’s mechanics.
Madjar started up an Indiegogo campaign Jan. 22, with the goal of raising $65,000 to make injection moulds and raise capital for a marketing budget.
As of Feb. 13, with 29 days to go, the campaign had raised $1,880.
He admitted the campaign is off to a slower start than he hoped for, but he’s optimistic the product will have success regardless of whether or not he raises his Indiegogo target.
“Plan B is actually taking it to potential investors who would help me get this into the right field.”
