Kelowna-Mission MLA Steve Thomson has announced he is formally endorsing Todd Stone as the best choice to lead and renew the BC Liberal Party and defeat the NDP.
“I believe our new leader needs to have a bold vision for the future of the BC Liberal Party and the province, and a solid, economically responsible plan to make that vision a reality,” said Thomson. “That’s why I am so excited to join Todd Stone’s team to help support a new generation of leadership for our coalition.”
Thomson’s endorsement follows last weekend’s BC Liberal Party leadership debate in Kelowna where Stone stood out as the candidate with an inspiring plan and forward-looking vision to reinvigorate the party for the future while at the same time adhering to Stone’s core principles of strong fiscal management, balanced budgets, and growing the economy.
Thomson cited Stone’s leadership style and his proven track record of bridging rural and urban B.C. as examples of why he has formally given his support to the campaign. As well as Stone’s long history and deep roots within the party.
“I am humbled by Steve Thomson’s support for our campaign and my vision for our province,” said Stone. “Steve’s passion for public service and his community as well as his common-sense perspective and insights will be invaluable as this campaign continues.”
Thomson is one of 69 political, community, and business leaders from all regions of the province who have formally endorsed Todd Stone for BC Liberal Party leader. This includes six MLAs, 12 former MLAs, and 35 elected local government leaders.
The Liberals will elect a new party leader in February.
