RCMP and the BC Coroner’s Service continue to investigate what appears to be a drowning.
On May 1, shortly after 9 am, emergency crews responded to a report of a drowning at the H20 Centre on Gordon Drive.
“Police have learned that the victim was quickly pulled from the water by life guards who immediately began CPR,” said Const. Jesse O’Donaghy, in a press release.
“Preliminary information indicates that the woman may have been in medical distress prior to going below the waters surface.”
The victim, a 57-year-old woman from Saskatchewan, was participating in the Cherry Blossom Triathlon at the time of the incident. She was rushed from the facility to Kelowna General Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
The Kelowna RCMP continue to assist the BC Coroner’s Service in their investigation.
