Kent Harrison Search and Rescue marked the start of June by assisting a youth in an overturned kayak Saturday (June 1).
According to KHSAR manager Neil Brewer, the team was called out to the Harrison River late Saturday afternoon. A young man’s kayak had overturned on the river, and his family was also involved in the incident.
SAR members used the organization’s Seadoos to rescue the family and return them to Kilby campground, where members provided them with blankets to warm up.
Brewer said 2019 has been a fairly quiet year for SAR calls so far — only 15 incidents to date.
