Keremeos council members celebrated Local Government Awareness Week on May 21 by planting a commemorative tree.
A beautiful tri-colour beech tree was chosen for the occasion, and will be planted in front of the village office next week.

The Village of Keremeos joined other local governments across B.C. by planting the tree to recognize the 100th anniversary of the Local Government Management Association (LGMA).
Keremeos council passed a resolution last December authorizing staff to proceed with selecting a tree to plant to recognize the local government profession and their ongoing commitment to the community.

The LGMA has partnered with B.C. Hydro’s Community Re-greening Program by offering every local government in B.C. $50 to purchase a tree of their choice.
LGMA is encouraging all local governments in B.C. to plant the trees during Local Government Awareness Week from May 19 to 25.
