Keremeos firefighters extricate two people after single vehicle crash

One airlifted and other seriously injured after crash on Green Mountain Road

The Keremeos Volunteer Fire Department had to go through the hatch of a van to get two people out after the vehicle left the road on Green Mountain Road Tuesday.

The collision occurred around 1:40 p.m. when the van left the road careening down an embankment and coming to the rest on top of a fast flowing creek.

“(It was a) tricky operation due to the fast moving water and the severity of the injuries,” Jordy Bosscha, fire chief of the Keremeos Volunteer Fire Department told the Keremeos Review.

The van teetered near the end of a slight drop off in the creek. The firefighters were able to go through the back hatch and bring the occupants out of the vehicle onto the bank before bringing them up the embankment.

One of the occupants was airlifted to hospital and the other taken to hospital by ambulance. The extent of their injuries was not known at the time of this post.
