Kicking Horse Mountain Resort along with all ski operations owned by Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) has suspended operations for a minimum of seven days, according to a statement released by the company on March 16.

RCR, which also owns Kimberley, Fernie and Nakiska, said it was suspending operations because of the coronavirus.

The closure came into effect at midnight on Sunday, March 15.

“Here at RCR our number one priority is the safety, health and well-being of our guests, team members and the communities which we live, work and play in,” said John Shea, president and chief resorts officer for RCR in the statement.

“As tough a decision as this has been, we feel it is the right thing to do under the current circumstance. We sincerely apologize to you, our guests for this inconvenience.”

A possible re-opening date will be evaluated at the end of the week.
