John Howard KidStart needs your help on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1.
There are currently 90 local children on the waitlist for a mentor, and your donation can help them match more kids in need with a caring adult friend.
In contrast to the mass consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday enables people to give back and make a difference.
The John Howard Society of North Island is inviting you to help kids in your community by giving to the KidStart Mentoring Program.
John Howard KidStart is a volunteer-based mentoring program that connects positive adult role models with children ages 6-18 for three hours of recreational fun per week. The program depends entirely on donations, fundraising, and gaming funds to help children and youth in the community.
Healthyway Natural Foods will once again be participating in Giving Tuesday by matching customer donations on Dec. 1, up to $500. That is a potential $1,000 donation to support local children and youth. If you give $5, it becomes $10 for KidStart, $10 becomes $20, $20 becomes $40, and so on.
Consider visiting Healthyway on Dec. 1 to make your donation. No amount is too small.
Donations can also be made online at www.jhsni.bc.ca or in person or by mail to John Howard, #201-140A 10th Ave, Campbell River, BC, V9W 4E3. Donations over $10 are eligible for a tax receipt.
Feel great by helping local kids this holiday season.
