Kimberley gets second recreational cannabis license
Earth’s Own Naturals Ltd, located in Kimberley, is the second cannabis store in B.C. to receive a recreational license.
Tamarack Cannabis Boutique is also located in Kimberley, and the only other cannabis store in B.C. with a recreational license.
Owners Laurie Weitzel and Alan Bowler say they will be announcing their grand opening soon, and thank both the community and the City for their support.
City of Kimberley applies to translocate 100 deer
Kimberley City Council has approved an application for the translocation of another 100 mule deer in the community. The hope is to bring the deer population down to just 30.
This follows on the heels of a successful translocation that took place in March of 2018, when biologists translocated 50 deer from the community.
Kimberley to deal with translocated deer that migrated to Canal Flats
Kimberley City Council has approved a cull of mule deer that have migrated to Canal Flats since their translocation out of Kimberley in March of this year.
Councillor Darryl Oakley, who sits on the Kimberley Urban Deer Committee, says that the cull is part of an agreement with the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRORD).
“The cull is part of the contract that the City has with FLNRORD,” explained Oakley. “The deer that ended up in Canal Flats have been monitored closely by biologists for some time now. Some stayed for two weeks [and left], some two months, and some much longer.”
City’s snow management plan for coming season
Winter is almost here and that means the City is preparing for another busy season with snow removal.
Council recently discussed the Snow and Ice Management Plan for the 2018/2019 season, which doesn’t look a whole lot different from past years.
The Operations department is, however, making full-time use of an old grader, that was previously only used as an alternate.
