Volunteers from Ride For Life, the program that makes sure grads get a safe ride home from their celebrations, are sorry to announce that they can’t make it happen this year.
“It’s cancelled for this year,” said Amber Pasula, from Kimberley’s BC Ambulance station. Ambulance and fire fighter personnel make up the majority of volunteers who act as drivers.
“We just don’t have enough volunteers to drive, clean up and help. We also don’t have enough money.”
Pasula says it’s a combination of things that led them to this decision.
“It’s also Sam Steele weekend in Cranbrook There are a lot of people who usually volunteer who are away this year.”
She is hopeful the cancellation is a one time thing.
“We will definitely try for next year,” she said.
