Eleven businesses have received a prestigious distinction.
The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce held its annual Business Excellence Awards Saturday at the Best Western Vernon Lodge.
“This year we’ve had more than 200 nominations and more than 300 people attending the gala event,” said George Duffy, chamber manager.
“We are thrilled to see this level of energy and optimism in the business community.”
Topping the awards was KingFisher Boats which was named business of the year and exporter of the year.
KingFisher distributes boats across Canada, the U.S. and Russia.

New business of the year — Accent LED Lighting
Marketer of the year (under 10 employees) — Kalavida Surf Shop
Marketer of the year (over 10 employees) — Predator Ridge Resort
Sterling Service — Kal Tire (Anderson Way)
Community supporter of the year — Nixon Wenger Lawyers
Green business of the year — Protocol Technologies
Employer of the year — Nurse Next Door
Professional service award — Precision Accounting
