She’s been doing the job since last April and this week they made it official.
Jennifer Kinneman has been appointed chief administrative officer (CAO) of the Fraser Valley Regional District.
FVRD Board Chair Jason Lum said she “really stepped up over the last year,” navigating through many significant challenges as the acting CAO, and getting the FVRD through a period of transition.
“The board conducted a thorough, national search for a permanent CAO and Jennifer showed us that her blend of experience and connection with the staff and FVRD partners was unparalleled,” Lum said.
“She is the best fit to continue to move us forward.”

Kinneman brings than 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, joining the FVRD in 2014, serving as director of corporate affairs, overseeing corporate communications, human resources, and corporate administration. Previous positions include one at McMaster University in Ontario, and a stint as city councillor for the City of Brantford from 2006-2010.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the FVRD as CAO. I am passionate about this organization and the hard work our talented staff performs each and every day,” said Kinneman. “Leading this team is a privilege, and I am looking forward to working with the staff and the board in establishing a clear strategic direction to meet long-term community goals.”
The FVRD is a local government that delivers over 100 separate services to over 280,000 residents in eight unincorporated electoral areas, as well as Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Harrison Hot Springs, Hope, Kent, and Mission. The CAO reports directly to the board of directors and oversees all regional district departments, including 110 employees.
