A kitchen fire was knocked down quickly by Chilliwack firefighters Tuesday morning.
The fire was in a house on Ramona Drive and started shortly after 10 a.m. on Dec. 22. The fire was out within less than half an hour.
Halls 1, 4 and 6 were called to the scene where they discovered light smoke from the exterior of the house. Upon entry, crews saw heavy, dark smoke on the upper floor and a fire in the kitchen.
Due to a quick offensive attack on the fire, crews were able to successfully prevent the spread of the fire to remaining areas of the home. The kitchen area and upper floor of the home did receive light fire damage and heavy smoke damage.
There were people in the two-storey home at the time, and they all managed to get out of the house safely according to firefighters at the scene.

Crews were busy that morning as the call came in just minutes before another call where there was a report of a vehicle that went into a water-filled ditch on Vedder Mountain Road. Everyone got out of the vehicle safely.
Before and after the kitchen fire, Chilliwack Fire Department was also dispatched to multiple calls of wires down in the area.
The cause of the Ramona Drive fire is currently under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department officials.
The Chilliwack Fire Department would like to remind everyone to use caution when operating or working around cooking appliances.
