THE field is crowded for those running for a Kitsumkalum councillor position.

Twenty-one people have put their names on the ballot in hopes of securing a seat on the six-member band council.

Five of the six current council members are hoping to be voted in again: Cynthia Bohn, Wayne Bolton, Troy Sam, Lisa Wesley and Steven Wesley.

Others looking at a shot at the councillor’s spot are Ronald Martin Bartlett, William Harold Bolan, Anona-Marie Budden, George Cooley, Peter Ernest (Ernie) Gerow, Diana Marie Guno, Melodie Patricia Johnson, Adam Wade (Brutus) McCarron, Lloyd David Nelson, Michelle Jessica Nelson, Todd Warren Nelson, Geraldine Gale Robinson, Christina Victoria Sam (Tina Stanley), Tracy Selina Margret Sam (Stevens), Susan Elizabeth Spalding and Cynthia Edith Wunderlich (Nelson).

The list for the chief’s position is smaller, consisting of only two candidates: current chief Don Roberts and James William Webb.

The band elections are held every two years. Voting for the chief councillor and six councillor positions will take place this Feb. 28 from 9 am to 8 pm at the Kitsumkalum Community Hall on Hwy16 West.
