- Motor Vehicle Incident:
A male in a vehicle was driving erratically northbound on the Trans Canada Highway and Timberland Road on Feb. 19. The male tried to hit another vehicle and was brandishing a knife out of the window at the other driver. An individual traveling in the same direction witnessed the dispute. RCMP attempted to locate the vehicle but were unsuccessful. A license plate has been obtained.
- Theft from motor vehicles:
A rear licence plat and valtag was stolen off a vehicle in the 1,200 block of Rocky Creek Road on Feb. 15.
A vehicle was broken into during the day while parked on Timberlands Road on Feb. 15. The owner left the keys to the pickup truck in the gas cap area and the culprit used them to unlock the doors. A Timberwest Forest Service road key, the truck key, a two-way radio and two wrenches were taken.
- Theft:
Scrap metal was stolen from the yard of Van Isle Truck Tech Ltd at 1280 Rocky Creek Road on the weekend of Feb. 12. A generator was stolen from the 100 block of Stephenson Street on Feb. 16. The generator is a red and black Homelite and was stored in an unlocked shed off the back porch of a residence. The generator was later recovered as a result of a call from a member of the public.
A bicycle was stolen from Fourth Avenue on Feb. 16. The bike was later recovered after interviewing a younger person. The matter was dealt with through the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
- Mischief:
An unknown Caucasian male was observed dumping construction waste behind Coronation Mall at 370 Trans Canada Highway on Feb. 17. The male was described as 5’10”, stocky build, balding short dark hair and was driving a Burgundy coloured vehicle. Witnesses were able to get a partial BC license plate number.
A male was escorted by police from a residence on Shell Beach Road due to a breach of recognizance on Feb. 17. Two charges have been recommended to the Crown.A male started a small fire near the bus stop on Spruston Road and Frost Road on Feb. 20. The male is in his 20s and was wearing a dark baseball cap and a camouflage coat. He was described as 5’10” with a medium build. The fire was put out and the male was last seen heading westbound on Spruston. The male has not been located.
An individual reported to police that someone rang their doorbell and then fled on Feb. 20. The residents saw a small silver car leaving in a hurry down Roots Street. The car then returned with its lights off before once again driving away. Homeowners are reminded to ensure, if they are away for a period of time, that someone pick up newspapers, flyers or any mail that might accumulate on the property and generally tells property offenders that no one is home.
- Fraud:
A resident called police to advise that his Mastercard was used in Dubai for a $1,300 transaction on Feb. 18. Individuals are reminded to check their bank statements on a monthly basis for their accuracy. Any suspicious transactions should be reported immediately to the service provider.
