Ladysmith RCMP are probing a break and enter at the former school in Saltair after several items were stolen earlier this week including a vehicle that belonged to the daycare.
The theft took place sometime overnight on Tuesday.
The school at 3580 Oyster Road is now being leased to a multiple businesses, including ILM Education Centre Daycare, JEM Massage Therapy and the Chemanius Art Group.
“Property was damaged during the break in that included a smashed door that allowed entry to the building,” said Ladysmith RCMP Cpl. Dave Fish.
The vehicle reported stolen is a 2002 Grey Dodge Caravan with the BC Licence plate AK0 416.
Property stolen from the premises included change from an antique gum ball machine and a DVD player.
Fish said that specialized RCMP resources are being utilized to gather forensic evidence from the scene in order to apprehend the suspect(s).
