Ladysmith residents let their pocket books do the talking earlier this month at Save-On-Foods with $1,100 now being donated to the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association Food Bank.
Western Canada’s largest grocery retailer teamed up with its in-house brand Western Family to support food banks across B.C. and Manitoba.
The inaugural campaign called Share it Forward, saw 25 per cent of the net proceeds of every Western Family product sold at Save-On and PriceSmart Food, up to $250,000, donated directly those organizations.
During the weekend of June 15, 16 and 17 Ladysmith residents purchases of some of the 2,800 Western Family products.
From September 2016 to October 2017 300 individuals were served by the Ladysmith Food Bank each week, and 41 per cent of those individuals were children.
