Work is scheduled to resume on a stretch of Lakeshore Road in the Kelowna’ Mission area next week.
Starting August 10, a partial excavation of the road base between Dehart and McClure roads will take place and the work will require occasional lane closures between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., during the week.
An increase in the equipment present in travel lanes and an uneven road surface may increase delays to motorists, says the city.
Motorists are asked to obey all signs and traffic safety personnel present in the project area.
Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to use other routes. A cycling detour around the construction on Lakeshore Road has been posted to assist.
The work is part of a bigger project that is improving Lakeshore Road, one of the main traffic arteries running north-south in the city.

Also starting Monday, as of 7 a.m. the Rose Avenue and Richter Avenue intersection will be closed for realignment and utilities construction.
Rose Avenue between Pandosy and Richter streets will remain closed until the intersection realignment’s anticipated completion in September.
Pedestrians and cyclists should use alternate routes and obey all signs and safety personnel in the construction zone.
Construction hours are scheduled for Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. but the city says some work may occur outside of those hours to minimize traffic delays and limit construction time.
The $1.1 million job at the Rose and Richter intersection includes full signalization, sidewalks, utilities, curb and gutter.
