Almost 50 people turned out to the Interlakes Community Hall on Feb. 28 to hear more about a potential swap of Crown land for an island in Bridge Lake.
The meeting was held by area developer Julian Kenney and his agent Nigel Hemingway with regards to the government’s offer to exchange 18 hectares of lakefront Crown land on Bridge Lake for Kenney’s 26 ha Heritage Island property.
Staff from the Ministry of Natural Resource Operations (MNRO) assisted developers in providing related information and fielding questions from concerned or interested area residents. If the deal is accepted by Kenney and all associated conditions are met, the land will potentially be developed into 10 waterfront and 8 upland lots with a minimum size of 0.8 ha (2 acres).
