Two male hikers were walked off Mount Finlayson with the help of Langford Fire Rescue on Monday evening.
The Langford fire department received a 911 call from the two hikers in their 40s around 3 p.m., Aug. 5.
“We could see them from the Goldstream Nature House it took us about 45 minute to get up to them,” said Langford assistant chief Geoff Spriggs. Firefighters and the hikers were off the mountain by 6 p.m.
Both hikers where uninjured and did have enough supplies and proper clothing for their hike. A cellphone with GPS helped the firefighters locate them.
“The two hikers were not overly familiar with the areas, they had been up Finlayson a couple of times,” said Spriggs adding the hikers took a wrong turn and ended up off the trail.
Hikers should stay on marked trails and have adequate clothing and equipment, Spriggs said.
