Police hunting for clandestine drug labs raided a suspected MDMA lab in Langley as well as locations in Surrey and Delta recently.
Three searches on Oct. 28 by the RCMP’s federal Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) unit led to the arrest of one man.
The Langley location, near the Surrey border on 82nd Avenue, was found to contain a lab and finished MDA and MDMA products, as well as several other illicit substances, said Sgt. Annie Linteau, spokesperson for the RCMP E Division.
Andrew Slemko, a 40-year-old Surrey man, has been arrested and charged with production of MDMA, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and a breach of recognizance.
A raid of a storage locker in Delta’s Nordel Court turned up what is believed to be 605 litres of helional, an ingredient likely destined for use in MDMA manufacturing.
Another search warrant for the 3300 block of 151 Street in Surrey turned up more than two kilograms of suspected MDA and MDMA.
All three searches took place within minutes of each other, said Linteau.
Three other people were arrested, along with Slemko, but the others have been released without charge pending further investigation.
The investigation has taken 10 months and covered much of the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
