For the third year running, the PNE prize home is located in Langley.
This community has a long-standing relationship with the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), and specifically its prize home.
For a dozen years running (2002 to 2014), the Langley-based Britco modular building company based in Milner constructed the prize homes, set them up on the fairgrounds for the summer festivities, then relocated it to its forever home somewhere in B.C.
The homes continued to be constructed on the fairgrounds until COVID hit and then, like all other big events, the PNE was cancelled. At that time, organizers pondered building the homes in their permanent sites – somewhere in Lower Mainland.
So, in 2021, Langley builder Mike Pecchia, and his team from Distrikt Homes, built a 3,645-square-feet luxury home in South Surrey.
In 2022, the three-storey, 3,400-square-foot prize home was located at 19622 73C Ave., in Willoughby, and constructed by Langley’s Westmont Homes.
In 2023, the prize home was built by Langley’s Lanstone Homes in a joint venture with Wesmont Homes, in the 7500-block of 197A Street in Willoughby, again not far from the border with Surrey.
This year, the PNE prize home is once again located in the rapidly expanding Willoughby neighbourhood, explained PNE spokesperson Laura Ballance.
“We are very excited to have the 90th PNE prize home going to Langley, a community our attendees tell us is at the top of their list for communities for the home to be located in… With so much public interest, it was an easy decision bringing the home back to Langley for a third straight summer,” Ballance shared, welcoming Miracon Developments as the 2024 builder.
Close to 3,500 square feet in size over three levels, this home includes four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, den, media room, and a two-bedroom basement suite.
This year’s prize home, situated at 19667 76B Avenue, is fully completed, including construction, design, and staging, explained Ryan O’Shea, president of Miracon. Work started last fall on construction, and the home was recently concluded.
“The home integrates favoured details and finishes from recent Miracon projects, while also presenting a new and distinct look and feel unlike any other homes built by the company,” he said, but it’s not so much the features but the location he personally feels is most notable – located adjacent to five-acre community pond, with a private backyard and “picturesque” mountain views.
It’s part of Miracon’s award-winning Mirada Estates, a 55-unit single-family subdivision, which Miracon is continuing to build out this summer. O’Shea noted his team is also preparing to launch a second single-family site in Langley.
Valued at $2.35 million, this single-family detached prize home also features a front-load two-car garage with EV charger. It boasts architectural craftsmanship and artisanal interior design by Brown & Co., and is furnished by Yaletown Interiors. The house is fully electric, powered by BC Hydro, and includes smart technology from Best Buy and Samsung, along with a Husqvarna yard package.
Admittedly, his kids are a little disappointed that Dad is disqualified from buying tickets on the prize home. They’ve shared how much they love the media room in the basement, with a large-screen TV, PlayStation console, VR headset, and a full PC gaming station.
This is the first time Miracon has partnered with the PNE, but he hopes it not the last.
“Miracon Developments is honoured to be part of the beloved prize home lottery program,” O’Shea concluded. “We can’t wait to see who wins the 90th edition of the PNE prize home lottery.”
The home will be available for tours Saturdays from July 13 to Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each of those days. Free tour tickets will be available through TicketLeader in June.
“It is a milestone year for the prize home lottery and we are so excited for the lucky winner to experience this amazing home and location,” Ballance said.
“We had thousands of people from all over the Lower Mainland, British Columbia, and Canada view last year’s PNE prize home,” she added, expecting even a bigger turn out this year.
This year’s lottery will feature three ticket options, including bundles of two tickets for $35, six tickets for $80, 15 tickets for $165, and 30 tickets for $285.
