Langley suspect loaded cart with $1,700 in stolen meat, clothes: RCMP

Police say the woman was already under court order to stay away from the store.

A 34-year-0ld Langley woman was arrested last week after she allegedly loaded up a shopping cart with $1,700 worth of goods and fleeing the store.

Just before 10 a.m., Langley RCMP were called about a theft in progress at the Wal-Mart off 202nd Street and 66th Avenue.

A woman had been seen leaving with a cart piled with items including clothing and meat, among other things, said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.

Staff provided a description of the woman to police, and she was quickly located and arrested.

The cart was also found, still full of goods.

Officers also found a vehicle thought to be associated with the suspect, and saw it was filled with more goods. They seized another $2,000 worth of stolen property and began a second investigation.

The woman arrested is allegedly subject to a recognizance order, and is under a condition to not be within 100 metres of any Wal-Mart.

Police will recommend charges against the woman, said Largy.
