Lantzville hires new top bureaucrat

NANAIMO – Darren Kiedyk’s first day with the District of Lantzville will be on Jan. 13.

Lantzville will have a new chief administrative officer next year.

The District of Lantzville officially announced that it hired Darren Kiedyk as the new chief administrative officer.

Kiedyk was hired as a replacement for former CAO Brad McRae, who departed in October for a position with the City of Nanaimo. Since then, Fred Manson has been the interim CAO for the district.

According to a press release from the district, Kiedyk spent the past five years as the chief administrative officer with the Village of Sayward. He also has held management positions with the City of Campbell River and the City of Nanaimo.

“We are pleased to have such a well-rounded, thoughtful and knowledgeable professional join our staff,”  said Mayor Colin Haime, in the release. “Darren’s strong worth ethic and understanding of the value of innovation, cost containment, collaboration, and the importance of building strong relationships among the various stakeholders within a community, will serve us well.”

Kiedyk’s first day with the district will be Jan. 13.
