During the last week of the summer police received 73 calls for assistance from August 28th to September 4th, 2018 RCMP Staff Sgt, Ryan Currie said on Tuesday.
August 28, 2018
• Police were called to a theft of hubcaps in Creston.
• Police investigated a report of a fraud in which a cheque was signed and cashed by someone other than the owner.
• A single vehicle collision in Wynndel resulted in the drinking driver being issued a 90-day licence suspension and vehicle impound.
August 29, 2018
• A Creston Valley resident reported a fallen tree on Highway 3. The resident was referred to highway maintenance.
• Police were called to investigate a breach of a no-contact order.
• Police were called to a fight involving numerous parties on Northwest Blvd. in Creston. The parties involved were separated.
• Police were called to intervene in a domestic argument in Riondel.
• A shoplifter at a business in Creston took a large number of tools. An investigation to identify a suspect continues.
• A report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Creston. Police determined there was no assault.
• Police were called to a disturbance involving yelling and screaming in Kitchener.
August 30, 2018
• Police were called to a disturbance outside of a business in Creston. Police learned it was fuelled by alcohol over money.
August 31, 2018
• A vehicle stop for erratic driving in Creston found the driver and the passenger to be wanted on a number of warrants as well as being bound by a number of release conditions. Further investigation resulted in the two being found to be in possession of illegal narcotics, and numerous weapons. Both have been charged and held in jail until a hearing in front of a justice.
• Police were called to intervene in a property division disagreement.
• Alcohol was the factor in a report of a suspicious person laying on a lawn in Rykerts.
• Police were called to investigate a fire contrary to the ban in Creston. A ticket was issued to the residence owner.
September 1, 2018
• A suspect found breaching release conditions was arrested, charged, and held for a justice hearing.
• A report of a stranded group on a disabled boat on Kootenay Lake. The caller was referred to the BC Conservation Service who were on the lake and able to assist.
• A check stop was conducted by police in Erickson. 30 vehicles checked with no infractions or impaired drivers.
September 2, 2018
• A vehicle stop for an illegal U-turn in Creston resulted in the drinking driver being issued a 3-day licence suspension due to the low level of alcohol consumption.
• Police intervened in a family disturbance between a mother and daughter.
• Police dealt with a noise complaint that received three calls in Erickson.
September 3, 2018
• Police investigated a report of a possible impaired driver on Highway 3. Police patrols were negative.
• A call from a distraught female in Canyon regarding a domestic assault was found to be false and most likely fuelled by illicit narcotics. The other party was found driving a short time later. The drinking driver received a 90-day licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded.
• Police were called to intervene in a neighbour dispute in Erickson.
September 4, 2018
• A call was received from a concerned female that she was being followed after a fight at a business in Creston. The female was found to be in no danger. Alcohol appeared to be a factor.
A concern has surfaced on social media regarding a report of a male taking pictures surreptitiously in the Creston area. Police have investigated, and there is no concern to the public.
