Latest Surrey murder was a targeted attack: Police

Victim identified as 26-year-old Jaskaran Singh Sandhu, who was 'known to police.'

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified the male body found yesterday in the 12300 block of Colebrook Road In Surrey.

Police say the victim found near a ditch Monday morning was 26-six-year old Jaskaran Singh Sandhu of the Lower Mainland.

“Mr. Sandhu was known to police and the victim of a targeted attack,” said IHIT Cpl. Adam MacIntosh. “Investigators continue to search for the motive behind his killing, including the possibility of being gang-related.”

Investigators will remain at the scene on Colebrook Road for the remainder of Tuesday.

The killing was Surrey’s fifth murder in a month.

At least two of the previous shootings were gang-related.
