LBCWSS annual general meeting slated

local Watershed AGM

The Lower Bridge Creek Watershed Stewardship Society (LBCWSS) is holding its annual general meeting in the 100 Mile House Branch Library meeting room Oct. 13, starting at 7 p.m.

There will be a financial report and elections of officers and directors, says society chair Patricia Spencer.

“The basic goal of the LBCWSS is to protect and restore the Bridge Creek Watershed from Horse Lake downstream to Canim Lake,” says Spencer.

She adds some of their activities include public education about watershed stewardship, creek cleanups, and other projects.

A watershed, Spencer explains, is all the land that is drained by a particular river or creek and its tributaries.

“Healthy watersheds are the foundation for healthy communities.”

After the AGM, Spencer, who is also the local co-ordinator of the Cariboo Wood stove Exchange Program, is offering a presentation on “Wood stoves, Air Quality and Health,” which, she says, will take about 15 minutes.

“We welcome more members; anyone interested is welcome to call me at 250-791-1901.”
