The Royal Canadian Legion #259, Clearwater is in need of some roof repairs, and to help raise the funds it’s planning to also raise the proverbial roof with a Halloween party.

The Legion Annual Halloween Party Fundraiser for Roof will take place on Oct. 26 and include entertainment, appetizers, a silent auction and prizes.

“We have some money to do half of the repairs that we need to get done, but we need to get some more money,” said Legion member Calvin Lutz.

“At the back of the building, when the snow melts, water comes through and we need new drains, and heat trace tape in the drains, to prevent that from happening again in the future.”

This leakage tends to spill into the Legion’s parking lot and then freezes into a large sheet of ice, causing a hazard for those entering the building and making an additional cost for salt that needs to be spread for safety.

The legion needs $6,489 to complete the required roof repairs, and if the funds are successfully raised, the project can go forward and be completed in time for the coming winter.

As for the Legion Annual Halloween Party Fundraiser for Roof, there will be a door prize for a free dinner, two 50/50 draws and cash prizes for best costumes.

First place winners will get a cool $100, second place winnders will get $75 and third place prize is $50.

Costumes are not mandatory, however.

Tickets are $20 for guests, $15 for Legion members with a valid membership card and can be picked up at Home Hardware, the North Thompson Times, the Legion and Mystic Dreams.

There will also be a cash bar onsite, so all guests must be age of majority to attend.
