Kelowna Fire Department is getting busier each year.
In 2015, the department responded to 10,736 calls including 1,632 fires, 868 motor vehicle accidents, and 7,101 first medical response calls.
In 2014, they responded to just over 9,500 calls for service, meaning they’ve been 13 per cent busier this year.
The area where fire-fighters are dedicating the most time is first medical response.
In 2014 there were 6,242 calls answered on that front. In 2015 the number rose to 7,101.
Fire emergency calls were also increased in 2-15, but not nearly as significantly. In 2014 there were 1,564 calls answered, and in 2015 there were 1,632.
The annual report also showed there are minor peaks and valleys in the demand for service, with July 2015 being the busiest month for having 999 incidents versus 780 in January — a slow month in all ways.
