Armstrong-Spallumcheen firefighters had to tackle a tricky fire Wednesday evening.
Lightning struck a corner of the roof at the Monastery of the Carmel of St. Joseph in the 4800 block of Salmon River Road just after 8 p.m.
“There was a fire on the roof and it was difficult to get to,” said Armstrong-Spallumcheen fire chief Ian Cummings.
Crews were on the scene for several hours.
The nuns who live at the residence were all safely outside, and were allowed to return after the smoke from the fire inside the residence had been ventilated.
There was minimal damage done to the roof.
