A home was broken into and some valuables were stolen in Oak Bay yesterday evening.
On Feb. 5 at 9 p.m. police were called to a home after a reported break and enter. They say someone biked up to the home, pried open a back window, then searched the home before leaving with money and alcohol. The break-in happened sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m..
“It is very common for us to encounter suspicious people biking through Oak Bay,” said Deputy Police Chief Ray Bernoties in a statement. “They bike around checking car doors and looking for any opportunity to steal property. This type of B&E is much less common and it’s very concerning. Please call 911 if you see suspicious person(s) in your neighbourhood.”
The Forensic Identification Unit attended and the incident is still under investigation. Police are asking the public to notify police if they noticed any suspicious activity.
