In an effort to keep Cowichan Valley residents as informed as possible on the state of public events during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis, we have reserved this space for community announcements of the cancellation of public events. The following file will be updated every time we are informed of a cancellation. If you have an event that has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and would like the public to be aware of any postponements or cancellations, please email editor@cowichanvalleycitizen.com and put “Cancelled event” in the subject line.

Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce Black Tie Awards rescheduled.
“We are postponing the Black Tie Awards scheduled for April 17, 2020, and will reschedule to a date in the future when things settle down in the world COVID-19. This could be as early as May or June, but who knows?
“This does not change the process leading up to a rescheduled date for the Black Tie Awards. This will include proceeding with the following:
“1. Our photo shoot this Sunday, March 15, 1 – 3 p.m., drop in for 10 minutes for a headshot with our Black Tie photographer Mark Margerison. We will still need photos of you all regardless of it being this week, or another photo shoot closer to the new date. You are invited to continue with your plans to attend the photo shoot on Sunday, unless of course you are not feeling well. We also have a handwashing protocol implemented at the Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre, so please be prepared to sanitize upon entrance to the Centre.
“2. Interviews: Again, these interviews are a critical last step in the adjudication process…regardless of them being held over the next couple of weeks or at a later date. It is hoped that we can continue the momentum and continue with the scheduled session as noted in my email yesterday. Ultimately, it is preferred that these be in person interviews, but we have not ruled out remote attendance. We will be dealing with each Interview Session on an individual and day-by-day basis, so please stay tuned for more details about your session.
“FYI: Nanaimo Chamber has also announced their Business Achievement Awards scheduled for April 8 at the Port Theatre, are being rescheduled to a hopeful date in May or June. So if it’s any consolation, we are not alone!”
