A motorist on Dog Creek Road and their passenger escaped serious injury after colliding with a loaded logging truck Thursday morning.
Emergency crews, including police, fire and search and rescue, rushed to the scene in the curves on Dog Creek Road shortly after 8 a.m. where a car heading southwest up the hill is alleged to have crossed the centre line and hit a Bruce Combs Trucking loaded logging truck travelling down the hill.
“With the freezing and thawing motorists need to be aware that roads are very slippery in the early morning,” said Williams Lake RCMP Staff Sgt. Del Byron, noting in this latest incident the car appeared to be travelling too fast for the road conditions.
“Motorists need to drive with the utmost caution. In this incident we were lucky no more was more seriously hurt.”
B.C. Ambulance transported the car’s driver and passenger, who was a small child, to hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the logging truck managed to keep the truck and its load upright but in the ditch off-road right.
Traffic was diverted temporarily to Roberts Drive and road conditions were icy.
