Local developers are working with engineers and District of Mission planners to revise a development plan for the Hatzic Bench area.
At a public information meeting on Jan. 15, residents were presented with an 87-lot residential project for two properties on 8502 and 8455 McTaggart Street.
The average size of the proposed lots is 7,000 sq. ft., said developer Gary Toor, who is working on the project with Jason Tiegen.
Toor also noted the lot sizes are comparable with existing ones in the area and some in his development could approach 10,000 sq. ft.
The plan has not yet been before council, with the conceptual layout presented to residents intended to start discussion.
“We’re trying to figure out what would work with people out there,” said Toor. “Now we’re going back to our engineers to address some issues people had.”
According to Toor, residents at the meeting were mostly concerned about building density and increased traffic.
“We’re going to bring in sewer … and some areas will require storm drainage,” said Toor.
A new plan will be going forward to council in the future.
Mission’s manager of development services, Mike Younie, said the district had asked the developer to host the public information meeting.
“He is now considering the public’s comments before bringing it forward to council,” said Younie.
