After being in Grand Forks for 43 years, local businessman Harry Saini wanted to give back. Last year, he came up with the idea of hosting a Father’s Day celebration at his house complete with authentic East Indian cuisine.
After a successful first year with more than 400 participants in 2013, the celebration was even bigger and better this year.
Saini estimates there were over 500 people who dropped by and took part in the celebration. In addition to helping feed local people, the Sainis also collected money for two local charities.
In all, $3,011 was raised and will be splt evenly between the Grand Forks Fire Department and the Elks Lodge Children’s Fund.
