North Okanagan residents can check out a critical player in the local economy.
The Interior Logging Association’s 54th annual conference and trade show takes place today and Saturday in Vernon.
“The theme this year is training our next generation,” said Reid Hedlund, ILA chairperson.
“Using the theme will allow universities, colleges, licensees and suppliers to exhibit future job opportunities and training within our organization and industry.”
There will be assorted displays inside the Vernon Curling Club today from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“The exhibits are open to the public,” said Wayne Lintott, general manager.
Members of the association will hold their annual general meeting today at 9:30 a.m. at the Best Western Plus Vernon Lodge.
The guest speaker during the luncheon will be Steve Thomson, B.C.’s forests minister.
A number of seminars are also scheduled for ILA members.
They include a presentation from consultant Murray Hall on life after the mountain pine beetle and the emerging bio-mass industry in B.C.
